NEET 2025: Detailed Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications, and Attempt Limits

NEET 2025 Eligibility Criteria Released: All You Need to Know About Qualifications, Age Limit, and Attempts

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2025 is set to take place on May 5, 2025, and aspiring medical students must ensure they meet the eligibility criteria laid out by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The recently released information brochure provides a comprehensive guide to the qualifications, age limits, and number of attempts allowed for the upcoming NEET examination.

Key Eligibility Criteria for NEET 2025:-

The NEET 2025 Information Brochure is now available on the official website,  [ neet.ntaonline.in  ]( https://neet.ntaonline.in/ ). It includes detailed eligibility criteria that candidates must meet to apply for the exam.

Age Limit:-

Minimum Age:-  Candidates must be at least 17 years old by December 31, 2025.
Maximum Age:-  The significant change this year is the removal of the upper age limit. This update aligns with the latest guidelines released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, allowing candidates of any age above 17 to take the exam.

 Educational Qualifications:-

Candidates planning to take the NEET 2025 exam must have completed their Class 12 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as their core subjects. Additionally, English is a mandatory subject.

Required Marks in Class 12:-

  General (UR) Category:-
Minimum 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology.
  BC/SC/ST Categories:-
Minimum 40% aggregate in the same subjects.
  PWD Category:-
                          Minimum 45% aggregate.

Candidates currently appearing for their Class 12 examinations are also eligible to apply for NEET 2025, provided they meet the required criteria at the time of admission.

Number of attempts:-

Previously, candidates were restricted in the number of attempts they could make for the NEET exam. However, since 2018, the NTA has removed these limitations. For NEET 2025, candidates can attempt the examination as many times as they wish, provided they meet the other eligibility requirements.

Eligibility for international students:-

International students, including Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and foreign nationals, are also eligible to apply for NEET 2025. The criteria for these candidates include:

Completion of a curriculum equivalent to India's Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.
Submission of relevant documents, such as proof of citizenship and educational qualifications.

Documents Required:
Certificate from the Indian Diplomatic Mission for NRIs and OCIs.
Valid passport or certificate from the competent authority in the candidate's country of nationality.

State Quota Seats:-

NEET 2025 will also continue the practice of offering state quota seats. Approximately 85% of seats in government medical colleges across various States and Union Territories are reserved under the state quota. The respective state authorities will conduct counseling for these seats. This quota is exclusive to government colleges and does not apply to private institutions, which follow separate admission policies.
The NEET 2025 examination serves as a gateway for aspiring doctors and medical professionals to gain admission to undergraduate medical courses in India. With the eligibility criteria now clearly defined, candidates are advised to thoroughly review the information brochure and ensure they meet all necessary requirements before applying.

 How to Apply:-

Eligible candidates can apply for NEET 2025 through the official NTA website, [neet.ntaonline.in](https://neet.ntaonline.in/), where detailed instructions for the application process are provided. It is crucial for candidates to double-check their eligibility and gather the required documents before submitting their application.
